Preparing Your Surface

To ensure a successful application, it’s important to start with a clean and dry vehicle. This is usually sufficient to properly prepare the surface. However, we also provide a product that effectively eliminates any lingering wax or silicone residues. It’s crucial to remove these contaminants as they can hinder the paint from adhering properly. Additionally, be mindful of the temperature of the panels you plan to repair. Ideally, the ambient temperature should range between 40 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit.

Smear Paint Over Chips

Shake Paint Bottle Until Color is Thoroughly Mixed

Please note that colors may appear different in the bottle or when initially dispensed compared to when they are smeared onto the chip. It is recommended to continue with the process even if the color looks slightly off. If necessary, the paint can always be removed entirely. To apply the paint, you have two options. You can either apply a small amount of paint to the panel next to the chips or directly to the underside of the beveled edge of the squeegee.

Spread the paint over the chip(s) by pulling the paint squeegee at a 45-degree angle. The paint should be evenly distributed, creating a smooth and flat surface. Avoid excessive paint accumulating outside the chip. The paint will stick to the squeegee, allowing you to apply more to other chips as needed. Reapply as necessary.

Allow the paint to dry for at least a few minutes before proceeding to the next step. The paint should be dry to the touch. If dealing with larger or deeper chips, it is recommended to give the paint more time to dry, as the paint towards the bottom of the chip may still be wet.

Step 2 - Remove Excess Paint

Now It’s Time to Remove All that Excess Paint Around the Chips

Shake The Pink Stuff blending solution and apply it to the folded blending cloth or a soft T-shirt rag. Make sure to moderately saturate an area roughly 2″ x 2″, but avoid drowning the rag in solution.Gently hold the cloth flat against the panel using several fingers (avoid using just one finger to prevent paint damage) and lightly rub over the chip. It’s important not to press too hard; let the solution do most of the work. With a little practice, you’ll learn how much pressure to apply without removing the paint in the chips, which will help speed up the process.

As you work, you’ll notice the excess paint melting away, leaving the paint intact in the chips. Once all the excess paint is gone, quickly hand-buff the area with a microfiber towel to eliminate any residual blending solution. If the solution dries to a haze that can’t be removed, simply apply more solution and buff it away. The area should have a nice shine once finished.
