Yet another well known annoyance is when your car looks hot but your headlights are looking yellow. It’s almost as if someone sat on the inside smoking cigarettes. It’s that exact shade of yellow, the dingy, dirty horrible yellow. Even more annoying than the color is the fact that your headlights are no longer providing the service they were meant to. You are not only have limited vision but those that are in front of you at night can’t see you coming as well. Let’s face it, this is a lot more than an annoyance, it’s a safety hazard with many examples of car accidents happening because of it. All of these are conversations that you should be having with your potential clients. This information should be on a flyer when searching for new business. Make it painfully obvious that they need to have their headlights renewed to their original condition. Many car owners feel that they will have to contact the dealership to order new lenses for their vehicle. This is quite cost prohibitive and many who are struggling through the economy changes will simply not do it.
This is an extremely welcome conversation and when you tell them the cost, you may have just gained a satisfied customer for life. You can also use this as an up-sell item to earn some extra income while you are there doing other services that they may need.
How much can you make? Well, for your Retail Clients you would charge $55 and for your Wholesale Clients, like Used Car Dealerships, you would charge $35. The cost of your supplies for each vehicle is $2 and it should take you no longer than 15 minutes to do the job. So let’s say you had four jobs lined up, you would get $220 then minus the supply cost of $8, your profit would be $212. Not bad for an hours worth of work.
